Who we are

SEO Web Spider is a product of London Web Factory. London Web Factory provides web design, website maintenance, digital marketing and training services. For the purposes of UK data protection law, London Web Factory is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

Information we collect

We may collect information you provide when you contact us, request a quote, become a client, register for an account or communicate with us. This may include your name, business name, email address, telephone number, postal address, account details, project requirements and correspondence.

When you use this website, our systems may also receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring page, and the date and time of your visit. We do not intentionally collect special category data through this website.

Information handled by the desktop application

SEO Web Spider stores crawl results, crawl history, application settings, browser session data and diagnostic logs locally on your device. The current application does not upload your crawl databases, crawl results, browsing history or extracted page content to London Web Factory, and does not include behavioural analytics that transmit your app activity to us.

When you crawl or browse a website, your device connects directly to that website. The destination receives ordinary connection and request information, including your IP address, requested URLs and user agent. Browsed or crawled pages may load third-party resources, and websites opened in the embedded browser may set cookies. These websites operate under their own privacy policies.

Local application data remains on your device until you clear it or remove it from the application's data directory. For direct-download editions, uninstalling the application may not automatically remove this data. Store uninstall or reset operations can remove local application data; saved reports outside the application data directory may remain. Before removing application data, close the app and export or save any reports you want to keep. Removing local files does not cancel an account-owned Store purchase. You control any reports or diagnostic files you choose to export or share with us for support.

Mac App Store edition and Apple purchases

Purchases and purchase restoration in the Mac App Store edition are handled through Apple's App Store and StoreKit services. The application receives product pricing and verified purchase entitlement information to enable Pro features and check whether a purchase remains valid. These checks do not send purchase information to London Web Factory's licence server.

Our application does not receive your payment card details or Apple Account credentials. Apple processes App Store account, payment and transaction information under its own privacy policy.

The Mac App Store edition does not use London Web Factory licence-key validation, device fingerprinting or promotional-message services. It does not send your crawl results, history or diagnostic logs to us automatically, and does not include advertising tracking.

If you contact us for support, we process the correspondence and any files you choose to provide for responding to your request, subject to the use, sharing, retention and rights provisions below. Visiting this website from the app is subject to this policy's website and cookie provisions.

Microsoft Store edition and Pro Lifetime purchases

The Microsoft Store edition is free to download, with an optional one-time Pro Lifetime purchase. Microsoft handles checkout and payment through its Store services. The application receives product pricing and licence entitlement information from Microsoft to check ownership, enable Pro features and recover an existing purchase using your Microsoft Store account.

Our application does not receive your payment card details or Microsoft account credentials. Microsoft processes Store account, payment and transaction information under its own privacy statement. Purchase and entitlement checks do not send your purchase information to London Web Factory's licence server.

The Microsoft Store edition does not accept London Web Factory licence keys, perform our licence-key device fingerprinting or contact our licence validation service. Microsoft manages any cached offline Store licence; the application does not store a separate permanent purchase flag. Local settings, crawl history and browser sessions use a data directory separate from the direct-download Windows edition.

The Microsoft Store edition requests application and promotional messages from London Web Factory as described below. It does not automatically upload crawl results, browsing history, extracted page content or diagnostic logs to us, and does not include advertising tracking. If you contact us for support, we process the correspondence and files you choose to provide under the provisions below.

Direct-download licence keys and application messages

Direct-download editions for Windows and macOS support London Web Factory licence keys. When you activate, validate or revoke one of these keys, the application sends your licence key, an application-specific device fingerprint and, for subsequent checks, an activation token to our validation service over HTTPS. The fingerprint is a SHA-256 hash derived from the operating system's machine identifier; the raw identifier is not sent. We retain device activation records to administer licences and limit key sharing. The service may return your name, email address, licence identifier, expiry date and validation time, which the application stores locally.

Direct-download editions and the Microsoft Store edition request splash, footer and administrator messages, including promotional messages, from London Web Factory. The Mac App Store edition does not use these message services. These requests expose ordinary network information to our server, including your IP address, request time and user-agent information. Messages are not selected from your crawl history. If you open a promotional link, the destination website receives information under its own privacy policy.

How and why we use your information

• To respond to enquiries and provide requested information or quotations.
• To enter into and perform contracts, deliver services, manage accounts and provide support.
• To operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve our website and services.
• To maintain business, tax and accounting records and meet our legal obligations.
• To establish, exercise or defend legal claims and prevent fraud or misuse.
• To send marketing communications where you have consented or where otherwise permitted by law. You can opt out at any time.

Our lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in running and protecting our business, and consent where required.

Who we share information with

We may share personal information with trusted suppliers that help us provide our services, such as hosting, email, IT, analytics, payment, accounting and professional advisers. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect legal rights, or in connection with a sale or reorganisation of the business.

Suppliers may only use information for the agreed purpose and must protect it appropriately. If information is transferred outside the UK, we use an approved safeguard where one is required, such as UK adequacy regulations or contractual protections.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including legal, accounting and reporting requirements. Retention periods depend on the nature of the information and our relationship with you.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Cookies

When you choose “Accept All Cookies” or “Reject All” in our cookie banner, we set an essential cookie named lwf_cookie_consent to remember your choice. This cookie applies across this website on the domain you are visiting and expires 180 days after your choice. It is only set after you make a choice.

You can change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. If your saved choice expires or you delete the cookie, the banner will appear again.

Optional analytics and advertising tracking are currently disabled. Google Analytics and Google Ads are not loaded, even if you accept all cookies. If we enable these services, we will update this policy to explain their use.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask us for access to, correction or deletion of your personal information; to restrict or object to its use; to receive certain information in a portable format; and to withdraw consent at any time. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions.
